A study by Missouri University researchers discovered that inactivity (four hours or more) causes a near shutdown of an enzyme that metabolizes fat and cholesterol. This causes you to store more fat as opposed to the body burning fat. If you are going to be sitting for long periods of time, be sure to stand up once in a while and, if possible, simply walk around the room.
